Lint and the Laundromat
This project explores the exciting possibilities of dryer lint as a material. This traditionally discarded material has generally been considered only a laundry waste product or a fire hazard. This semester I conducted a series of material studies. From there, I developed a material tree mapping out the possibilities that can be achieved with lint such as felt, paper, clay, etc. Additionally I designed "How to Cards" demonstrating how to create each of the lint materials. Linking back to the dryer lint's origin, I constructed a proposal for a circular economy within the community of the laundromat, allowing patrons to sell their lint-made goods.
