Gazeta Paper Chair

Anna Rindos, Graduate Industrial Design

Discouraged by the lack of affordable and fun furniture, the Gazeta Paper Chair seeks to utilize discarded furnishings, prolong the lives of unwanted or off-trend pieces, and transform "trash" into newly realized, highly personal treasures. "Gazeta" is Polish for newspaper, which is one of the primary materials used to craft this chair. Combining newspaper pulp with glue and plaster, the Gazeta was sculpted over a salvaged IKEA chair and recycled cardboard frame. A simple, cheap application that required no fancy tools, minimal construction space, and only $27 in materials, this method utilizes waste and transforms the previously unwanted in an inexpensive and accessible way.
