Cellerup is a hard bioplastic made from recycled celery and using gelatin as a binder. This impact-resistant biopolymer presents translucent yellow-green with strands of organic fiber that are especially pronounced when the material is lit. The fibrous strands of the celery add both structural stability and visual texture to the material. For this project, celery's high water and fiber content strengthens the resulting material and presents a compelling visual language in the form of a wall sconce.
